Stalaglight was the final project for my Rapid Prototyping (DAI 460) class at San Francisco State University. Below is an interactive PDF of my presentation booklet. I am most proud of the switching/dimming mechanism I designed for this lamp (See pages 11 and 12 below). It uses a series of strategically placed magnets along with magnet (hall-effect) sensors (inside the lampshade and top most lamp layer) to tell an embedded micro-controller (Arduino) to either dim the light to a certain level or turn off.
